Rodgers, a second-year quarterback from Cal, had replaced Favre, who hurt his elbow in the game. Favre is expected to return in time for Monday night's game at Seattle.

Rodgers' injury requires surgery, which he said will probably include placing a screw in his foot. Rodgers said he will be on crutches for about six weeks, but should be able to return in time for mini-camps next year.

The Packers are in need of a quarterback to replace Rodgers, who completed 4 of 12 passes for 32 yards during the Packers' 35-0 loss to New England. The team's third-string quarterback is Ingle Martin.

Arizona Cardinals defensive end Bertrand Berry will miss the rest of the season after tearing his triceps Sunday in a victory over Detroit. Berry will undergo surgery, probably this week.

It is the second consecutive year Berry, whose six sacks are the most on the team, has seen his season end prematurely; last year, he missed the final eight games because of a torn pectoral muscle. Antonio Smith, a third-year pro out of Oklahoma State, will replace Berry, as he did a year ago.

New Orleans Saints rookie receiver Marques Colston was listed as day to day because of a sprained left ankle sustained in a loss to Cincinnati. X-rays and an MRI exam were negative.

Andre Waters, a defensive back who spent most of his 12 seasons in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 44.

His body was found at about 1:30 a.m. at his Tampa, Fla., home, the medical examiner's office said. He had shot himself in the head. Toxicology reports were ordered, and results will be available in four to six weeks, the office said.

Waters, an assistant football coach at Fort Valley State in Georgia, joined the Eagles out of Cheyney State in 1984 and played with them at cornerback and safety through 1993. He was known as one of the NFL's hardest hitters and often was fined for some of his tackles. He spent his last two seasons with the Cardinals.
