Someone broke into the oncology department, a respiratory center and a private doctor's office at Baptist South Medical Center at 14546 Old St. Augustine Road last week.

Drawers were pried open in the oncology department, $122 was stolen from the doctor's office and a file cabinet was forced open in the third office between 4:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 7:15 a.m. Thursday. Police said doors to two of the offices were pried open, while no signs of forced entry were found at the respiratory center.

A 30-year-old Westside woman and a 45-year-old Westside man were arrested Nov. 15 on charges of grand theft after weight loss pills, teeth whitening strips and other items were stolen from the Walgreens store at 12145 San Jose Blvd., police said.

Police said an eyewitness saw a man walk out of the store at 6:30 p.m., setting off the alarm as he drove off in a blue Nissan Maxima north on San Jose Boulevard. The witness followed the car until it pulled into a shopping center at 10490 San Jose Blvd. and called police. Officers found the car in front of a supermarket at 10500 San Jose Blvd. at 6:49 p.m. and stopped it as it drove off.

Police said they questioned a woman and two men inside the car, then found more than $800 in items stolen from Walgreens in bags in the back seat. More items valued about $1,000 were found in the trunk, apparently stolen from other Walgreens in the city, as were 23 new DVD movies and clothing, all apparently stolen from other stores, police said.

10100 block of San Jose Boulevard - A man in a white Ford F-150 pickup truck stole a lawn blower, hedge trimmer, line trimmer and edger from a trailer around 3:55 p.m. Thursday, then drove off with the stolen items' owner trying to follow, but failing to catch up.

4000 block of Saverio Court - Two platinum and diamond rings, a gold and diamond cross and gold chain, altogether valued at $12,800, were reported stolen at 4:47 p.m. Nov. 15.
