The Wings are 1-0 against the Predators this season. Nashville moved past the Wings into first place in the Central Division with 30 points. The Predators will be without G (thumb).

"It's very exciting," said Legace, who received applause in warm-ups. "Detroit is such a talented team. We did a good job of keeping them on the outside as much as we could. It was one of our better defensive games."

Legace (41 saves) stopped Pavel Datsyuk and Jason Williams in the shootout. On the other end, Dominik Hasek allowed goals to Martin Rucinsky and Doug Weight (Warren).

"The Wings' organization was real good to me, the Ilitch family. I would have come back, but when you get the best goaltender on the planet (Hasek), you have to get him."

The Wings had to kill off a Kris Draper tripping penalty that bridged the end of regulation and the first 26 seconds of overtime. Detroit had a power play the final 1:51 of overtime.

The victory was a rare one for the Blues. They are 3-12-1 in their past 16 games against the Wings, but are 3-5-0 at Joe Louis Arena over that span.

The Wings flew to Nashville after Friday's game and will face the Predators tonight. Fortunately for the Wings, they won't be facing goalie Tomas Vokoun, who will need thumb surgery and miss approximately 2-6 weeks.
