Peg Harvey, 83, has self-published a book titled Bags Out at Seven, which contains vignettes about the people and places she's encountered during her 27-year career as a freelance tour director in Los Angeles, Australia and New Zealand.

Harvey, of Orange Park, a past president of Orange Park Medical Center's Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts, said when her daughter, Margo, died in March from heart disease she was so distraught she couldn't leave the house or see people. So she got to work on the book that Margo had been nagging her to write.

Orange Park Realtor Carrol Wolverton recently had her second novel published by Publish America. Sex, Lies & Real Estate is about a Realtor who makes all the mistakes of a new agent.

Wolverton has a master's degree from Valdosta State University and is vice president of North Florida Writers. Her first published novel was Back Bay Boston Basement, a mystery set among the brownstones of Boston's Back Bay. Other published works include Serious Survival: Skills for Single Parents and Forever 107: A Common Sense Approach to Weight Loss.

Canvas Church, which meets at Orange Park's AMC Theatres, was mentioned in an article about churches using technology in the November/December issue of Ministry Today magazine.

The church pastor, the Rev. Aaron Maners, who puts many visuals on the big screen during his services, was mentioned for his church's unique use of technology to transform a movie theater in to a church on Sundays.

Victoria Harvey, a sophomore at Clay High School, was chosen for the People to People Student Ambassador program. This summer, she will travel to Europe and meet with governmental officials and stay with a host family. She's one of 40 Jacksonville-area students participating.

People to People was founded in 1956 by President Eisenhower. Victoria is on her school's weight-lifting and softball teams. She volunteers at the Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs and attends Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Elizabeth Wood, a 2006 Clay High School graduate, was awarded a scholarship by the First Militia Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army, a private educational organization that supports military and family members.

Wood, who graduated with a 3.24 grade point average, is the granddaughter of Sgt. Ray H. Wood, who served 27 years in the U.S. Army. She's attending St. Johns River Community College and plans to transfer to the University of North Florida. For more information, call 823-0206.

They are Donald Flis and Nolan Houser of Middleburg and Lee Allen, Vincent Blendowski, Jack Giannini; Howard House, Javardo Jones and Dan Rockwell of Orange Park. Each completed 12 semester hours and achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
