Four local women who've spent 10 weeks remaking their looks and their lives as part of the Sun's "desperate housewives" makeover contest sashayed into Frescocielo Sunday to applause from an awestruck crowd of friends and family.

Dressed to the nines in new outfits from The Bay, sporting hot new hairstyles and glistening white smiles, Kim Holmes, Shawna Kelly, Julie Krewski and Anne Smith dazzled the gathering not only with their glowing good looks, but also with their new, confident attitude.

"My appearance now matches what I believe is my full-of-life personality," said Smith, whose aim was to be "fit and fabulous" for her 50th next month. She lost 10 lbs. and reduced her body fat by 7%.

"I feel stronger now," said Holmes, who blames a habit of putting herself and her needs last for the weight gain and loss of energy before the makeover. "I learned that when I take time to take care of me, I'm a happier person to be around." Holmes lost 15 lbs. and cut her body fat by 6%.

For Krewski, the contest has given her a "toolkit" to lead a healthier life: "With a new attitude, style and much improved derriere, I'm ready to take on whatever life brings me next!" Krewski lost 26 lbs. and cut her body fat by 8%.

"It's amazing to watch the metamorphosis," said Lee, whose focus was on removing the "blocks" the women were facing; the beliefs they'd developed about themselves that were keeping them locked in negative patterns.

- Bonnie Johnson-Rourke, Diane Davis and Sarah Dokken of The Bay, Rideau Centre, and Carm Falsetto, Christina Danielewski and Vince Mastrogiacomo of The Bay, Bayshore, who provided fashion consultation and a complete outfit with accessories.

- Jim Bickford and Chris and Erin Phillips of Frescocielo Bistro, and their staff, who provided the locale, the fabulous food and outstanding service for the makeover finale.

- Tamaira Morgan and her "right-hand woman" Astrid Laframboise as well as all the ladies at the Greco Health Shack, who help with organizing the makeover from start to finish.
